wow, this so sucks that Tom Brady is injured. shit,,,,

As a 20 plus year pats fan this was tough to see. But, Belichek has been able to replace virtually every other player that has been injured, held out, etc,,, In 2001 it looked like it was over for the Pats when Bledsoe was injured and an unknown who barely beat out Damon Huard, ironically, came off the bench. The unknown was Tom Brady.

Ok, I admit, I liked Pete Carrol and was very unhappy with the hiring of Bill Belichek. I was so wrong. Bill may have zero personality but he is by far the best coach in the league. The Pats have spent money on backups and starters when they needed to. If Belichek felt Matt Cassel could replace Brady in the event of injury, then he likely can. As much as Bill Belichek thinks everything through, there is little doubt he had a plan for this too. Matt will get the job done.

Get a veteran backup, Chris Simms, maybe Vinnie,,, or Drew, the ship is fine.

With forecasters calling for a possible NC direct hit from Hanna, here is my first Hurricane Hanna blog. Best Website is Crown Weather Services for updates.

I am not convinced that this will be a big thing. Hype tends to rule in the Carolinas every time a hurricane threat is a possibility. But, if it hits Friday/Saturday the dates would be the same as Hurricane Fran in 1996. This is the same cycle of names as 1996.

My guess is the storm will end up to the right/north of the current thinking at Hilton Head.

So I spent a huge amount of time doing promo/publicity for August 27th Brenneman Airplane Show with this really great guest, Gary Michael Cappetta the Pro Wrestling announcer. Gary was way cool, agreeing to do a show on a small listener count audience show like Xxbn, he was a way cool, interesting guest. With all the previous fiascos involving Blog Talk Radio crashing, dumping guests, dumping me, causing truncated shows, always with their apologies that it was a system wide server error.

14 minutes into this way cool show with a guest that was way cool, not to mention someone I thought about asking questions since I was 11 years old. 14 minutes into it Blog Talk Radio's board crashes, kicks he, I and a caller off the air, end of show. First, it so sucks because he was way cool. I hate some bozo technical failure because of shitty software by the provider, caused him to essentially waste his time, not to mention it makes Xxbn and I look totally amatuer. He is like the 10th guest that has been dropped and show dropped and lost over their server errors. What can I or Xxbn say to them? They are the only free provider.

Regardless, I so suggest getting his book Bodyslams, Memoirs of a Wrestling Pitchman. Gary was way cool, way interesting and I so appreciate his time!

Gary Michael Cappetta (born December 12, 1952) is an American professional wrestling ring announcer, author, voice over artist, screenwriter and stage performer.

Having spent more than 20 years in the middle of the pro wrestling ring he then wrote and self-published Bodyslams: Memoirs of a Wrestling Pitchman, an autobiography which was so successful, that it was re-released by ECW Press in 2006 adding 10 more adventurous years to the critically acclaimed book.

Cappetta is familiar to TV wrestling fans who watched him on World Wrestling Federation broadcasts from 1974-1985, followed by stints on ESPN with the American Wrestling Alliance or the AWA and Turner Broadcasting System’s World Championship Wrestling shows. Gary also performed on many prime time specials and pay-per-view productions for Turner Home Entertainment. He can also be found on numerous Ring of Honor DVDs doing backstage interviews. He also was the ring announcer for the 2005 wrestling game Showdown: Legends of Wrestling.

Stating that a major violation of trust had occurred, District Court Judge Don Courtney sentenced Iowa blogger and self-proclaimed male feminist Kyle Payne to serve time in the Buena Vista County Jail for invasion of privacy.

Payne received 360 days, with 180 days suspended on each of two counts of invasion of privacy, a serious misdemeanor charge. He was also given one year of probation on each count. On the charge of 2nd degree attempted burglary, a felony, Payne received an indeterminate term of prison not to exceed five years, with incarceration suspended. He will placed on probation for three years.

In addition, under a new portion of Iowa law that involves sexually-related crimes, Payne was given a 10 year period of parole. That sentence begins at the end of his regular term of probation. Because of the nature of his crime, he will not be required to register as a sex offender in the state of Iowa.

Payne was arrested in February and pleaded guilty in June to two counts of invasion of privacy, a serious misdemeanor, and one count of 2nd degree attempted burglary, a felony. The charges stemmed from an incident in 2007 when Payne was a dormitory resident at Buena Vista University and, during the course of his duties, secretly photographed a young woman’s breasts.

“This is the type of thing that happens, but not to you,” said the victim as she read from a prepared impact statement in court today. “… You might be given jail time, but for me this is like a life sentence.”

She added that since she was unconscious, Payne is the only person who truly knows what happened that night and left the implication hanging that there might have been more to the event than him partially undressing her, touching her inappropriately and shooting photographs and video.

The victim’s mother, who also provided an impact statement in court, said that the incident had “crushed the spirit of her daughter” and has fractured her ability to trust others.

“You are a sick young man,” the mother said. “I think you’ve done this before and will do it again. Our family does not accept your apology. We do not care about your self-inflicted suffering. You reap what you sow.”

Quoting repeatedly from Payne’s most recent blog post and pointing to what he described as a “narcistic” tendancies, Buena Vista County Attorney Dave Patton requested the court sentence Payne to
prison.

“[His blog post] indicates that he believes this is not all about the victim,” Patton said. “He believes it is all about him.”

F. Montgomery Brown, who served as Payne’s attorney, argued for a deferment while documenting how “the blogosphere lit into” Payne.

“Why was this kid so sensational?” Brown asked the court. “Because he made a spectacle of himself, in part. … But being a hypocrite is not a sentencing factor.”

Several feminist bloggers have written about the case because Payne had been so public with not only his feminist leanings, but his advocacy on behalf of victims of rape and sexual assault.

“He can’t be penalized for exercising his Constitutional rights,” Brown said of the blog post. “Frankly, I’m asking the court to be creative.”

Payne spoke briefly in his own defense, apologizing to the victim and her family and promising “to make changes in my life so it doesn’t happen again.” He then sobbed openly.

Judge Courtney, acknowledging his sentence as a compromise that would please no one, said he opted for county jail time instead of a prison term because of the both Payne’s age and the fact that he had no prior criminal record. One of the conditions of his probation will be to follow the directions of the correctional team, including continued therapy and counseling.

Payne was given one week to place his affairs in order before he will relinquish himself to the Buena Vista County Jail.

I-40 Traffic

Raleigh, N.C. — Drivers no longer have to picture themselves on a clock face as they travel around downtown Raleigh, the N.C. Department of Transportation said Monday. The Inner and Outer Beltline designations for parts of Interstate 40 and Interstate 440 are being retired.

The loop around downtown has had various names and numbers since construction began in the 1960s. It was re-named I-440 in 1996.

Since that time, the lanes that travel clockwise have been called the "Inner Beltline," while the lanes that travel counter-clockwise are labeled "Outer Beltline." It's easy to see why on a map, but harder to visualize when wedged in a line of traffic.

DOT will begin work on new signage as soon as this fall as part of a larger contract to replace signs along the route.

The eight miles where I-40 and I-440 overlap from Exit 293 to Exit 301 will be re-labled simply as I-40, as seen in the map below.

The rest of the current loop will continue to carry the I-440 label. While drivers in both directions will head north to get where they are going, the road will simply be labeled I-440, either east or west.

No entiendo, I don’t understand TVPRA/USaid other than hypocrisy

I was in Chile meeting with outreach orgs that do street outreach with sex workers in Santiago Chile with SWOP East on our organization’s forthcoming project to collaborate with two Chilean outreach orgs sending condoms and perhaps eventually other resources. Maybe even sending someone to teach computer skills to sex workers or English, which both orgs there asked if we could. Perhaps next year.

The anti prostitution pledge and TVPRA came up in discussion. The assumption being that because we were from the US we would be supporting TVPRA and President Bush. Which everyone was very happy when it was explained that SWOP-EAST, SWOP-USA and other sex worker rights orgs oppose TVPRA and dislike our president. My SWOP East Chilean colleague, Beatriz Mercado, thankfully was able to explain what I was struggling with as my spanish is still limited. That we don’t support TVPRA.

The limited help sex workers did get which was sixteen condoms a month and health services have dried up since TVPRA. Funding from the US and Netherlands ended with TVPRA in 2004 when orgs had to take the pledge.

I hear of feminists touring these wonderful successful programs around the world as a result of TVPRA. It is amazing. I meet with outreach orgs outside the US and and never hear a single success story from TVPRA. Just lives at risk, lives lost to disease. A direct quote from a street outreach worker is that sex workers in Santiago de Chile get nothing from anyone. Is this the great success of TVPRA? Are these people expendable because they won’t simply take the pledge and abstain from sex work? As if it were that easy. Which is also the feeling outside the US. That the US arrogantly comes up with some ridiculous policy of abstinence from sex work or being either trafficked, or pro prostitution and either way having to be rescued by the great United States, TVPRA and the Bush/abolitionist feminist alliance.

SWOP East is guilty as charged. We are going to send resources, whatever we can get without any funding of our own to outreach projects in Santiago. We aren’t promoting abstinence, aren’t demanding any pledges, aren’t saying we are rescuing anyone. If sending and hopefully occasionally joining orgs there doing street outreach distributing condoms, coffee on cold winter nights and respect for human beings makes SWOP East, myself, Beatriz, Amanda and others involved evil. I guess we have to live with being Anti US, Anti feminist. Somehow I don’t see it that way.

I also don’t see the great successes of TVPRA that some other feminists claim to see. Perhaps Donna Hughes and pioneers of TVPRA are doing the politician thing and touring only those areas and agencies pre-arranged for them to see “success”. Great, it’s wonderful that they are succeeding in rescuing 2 percent. What about the other 98 percent of sex workers worldwide? Are they expendable? Not to me, not SWOP East.

I am very glad that I don’t have to face these outreach workers trying to sell TVPRA and the Bush Administration/abolitionist alliance propaganda because my experience is it would be an abysmally horrible experience to try to convince someone that we are the great United States that knows what is best for all the world, there to rescue them with hollow words with no basis in the reality of their lives.

Live tropical storm Fay update 10:00 AM today

Fay is located near the southeast coast of Cuba as of this morning. All indications are that Fay is now tracking west-northwest at a forward speed of 13 mph. The track model guidance envelope has actually spread out with the latest model data as the global models have very different ideas regarding the steering flow over the next two to three days. The European model is forecasting a weaker high pressure ridge and a trough of low pressure dipping south into the northern Gulf of Mexico, which ultimately turns Fay northeastward over south Florida on Monday night and Tuesday before stalling it in the western Atlantic later this week into this weekend. The GFDL and HWRF models also show a path across the Florida Peninsula. Most of the remaining guidance, including the GFS and UKMET turn Fay northward in the southeastern Gulf of Mexico to the east of a mid- to upper-level cutoff low forecast to be over the Southern Plains.

Satellite imagery indicates that the organization of the inner core of Fay is improving. The overall environment around Fay is still very favorable and all indications are that Fay will be near or at hurricane strength when it reaches central Cuba late tonight. Once Fay gets into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico around midday Monday, Fay is expected to intensify some more and is expected to reach hurricane strength before coming ashore. My thoughts on exact strength and where Fay may come ashore are found in the next paragraph.

This remains a very difficult and frustrating forecast as any shifts in the track of Fay has large implications on the exact location of landfall on the west coast of Florida. Basically, the smallest shift in track could mean the difference between a landfall up in the eastern Florida Panhandle or a landfall near or just south of Tampa. I did note that the 3 BAM models do have Fay making landfall all the way up into the western Florida panhandle. That solution will be discounted for now, however, it is definitely in the back of my mind.

At this point, I think Fay will track very near, if not over Key West, Florida on Monday evening as a strong tropical storm or borderline Category 1 hurricane. After that, Fay should parallel the west coast of Florida on Monday night and come ashore somewhere between Taylor and Dixie Counties and Fort Myers sometime on Tuesday as a Category 1 hurricane. Due to large spread in the model guidance, my thinking for a forecast track continues to be low confidence, so it's best to keep track of the latest updates with Fay.

For the Florida Keys: Sustained tropical storm force winds are expected to reach the lower Florida Keys around midday Monday and affect most of the Florida Keys Monday afternoon through Tuesday morning. Sustained hurricane force winds are quite possible over the Florida Keys on Monday evening.

For South Florida: Tropical storm to hurricane force winds peaking in the 50 to 75 mph range are possible along the Collier County coast particularly on Tuesday morning with conditions beginning to deteriorate on Monday evening and gradually improving by late Tuesday. For the Mainland Monroe, Miami Dade, Broward and Palm Beach Counties, peak winds of 35 to 50 mph are expected from late Monday night into early Tuesday morning with conditions beginning to deteriorate late Monday afternoon and beginning to improve by late Tuesday morning.

Further up the west coast of Florida, hurricane force winds are possible near where Fay comes ashore on Tuesday afternoon or Tuesday evening. This area of possible hurricane force winds currently is in an area stretching from Cedar Key south to Fort Myers. Hurricane Watches have not been issued for this area as of yet, however, I expect them to be issued either later this morning or sometime this afternoon.

Hurricane Watches have been issued for the Florida Keys and parts of South Florida. For detailed information regarding these watches and preparatory advice, please refer to our tropical weather page. All interests in the Florida Peninsula and the Florida Keys should monitor the progress of Fay very closely.

The circulation with the low pressure system near the southern coast of the Dominican Republic has become better defined and is now classified as Tropical Storm Fay. Hurricane hunter aircraft have found maximum sustained winds of 40 mph. Fay is currently tracking to the west at a forward speed of 14 mph. Fay is on the south side of a ridge of high pressure. The global models are forecasting that a weakness in the high pressure system will form over the eastern Gulf of Mexico or over Florida during the next 2 to 4 days. This afternoon's track model guidance has shifted quite a bit to the west as compared to this morning. The track guidance now forecast a track that would take Fay either over Hispaniola tonight into tomorrow and then very near or over the island of Cuba late Saturday night through early Monday. With that said, there is a considerable spread in the forecast guidance on just where Fay will track. The NAM calls for Fay to pass east of the Florida Peninsula, while the HWRF model forecasts calls for landfall in southeastern Florida. The GFDL and NOGAPS models forecast a more westward track toward the northern Gulf Coast, while the GFS, European model and the overall model consensus forecasts Fay to track near or over the West Coast of Florida. Complicating matters is the possibility of land interaction causing erratic motion and reformation of the center. So, at this point there are many different possibilities in forecast track of Fay over the next several days. All interests in the southeastern United States, both on the Atlantic side from North Carolina to Florida and on the Gulf of Mexico side from Florida westward to Alabama should keep close tabs on the progress of Fay.

Fay is expected to be in a light wind shear environment for the next several days. Therefore, the intensity of Fay will largely be controlled by land interaction and how much of a core this storm can build. At this point, if Fay makes landfall in the western Florida peninsula or in south Florida, it is likely the storm will be a tropical storm or Category 1 hurricane, as it will spend a relatively short amount of time over very warm waters. However, a path further west into the Florida Panhandle or further east over the Bahamas and north up towards North Carolina would lead to much more time over very warm ocean waters and thus a stronger hurricane, possibly to Category 2 or Category 3 strength. Needless to say, there are a lot of questions with regard to the future track and intensity of Fay. At this point, I am leaning towards a path between the NHC forecast track and the GFDL model or very close to the latest Canadian model track and this thinking of mine would ultimately bring Fay inland on the eastern Florida Panhandle near St. Marks, which is just south of Tallahassee on Wednesday afternoon as a 90 to 100 mph hurricane. My thinking for a forecast track is pretty low confidence at this point, so it's best to keep track of the latest updates with Fay over this weekend.

The next tropical weather discussion will be issued by 9 am EDT Saturday morning.

Special thanks to everyone who took the risk to showed up and speak out at the San Francisco Democratic County Central Committee meeting last night urging them to tvote to support the ballot measure to decriminalize our occupation. The endorsement was the icing on the cake by unified group effort by the San Francisco sex worker rights movement. Also, the Harvey Milk Democratic GBLT also endorsed our initiative on Tuesday. But there is so much more to do to see our position prevail at the ballot box between now and November.

NEXT STEPS: please join our campaign meeting Wednesday, August 20th, 6 pm-8pm 1260 mission @ 9th.
November 4th 2008 is ONLY 11 WEEKS to come together to do everything we can to make sure we get this measure passes.

Can't say I know a whole lot about the trans issue. I don't. However, suffering oppression can either make or break a persons humanity. One can learn from their oppression and grow and resist it or not learn from it and the status quo never changes. Feminists created safe spaces for women for a reason. They have maintained those for a reason. That reason is oppression, violence, discrimination and harm. As women we deal with those issues on a day to day basis in our lives. We have to grow from them.

Seeing another class that is oppressed being victimized by similar patterns of violence that we have suffered and knowing that our struggles against that oppression have laid some groundwork and built some mechanisms to resist and cope with the oppression should be a huge lesson on the suffering of others and what we can do improve life for everyone. We can't carve out little safe zones for ourselves and tell others that are oppressed follow our model and create your own safe zones but if you need any help from us file your problems in the not our problem file. Oppression will never be weakened with separate isolated pockets of safety nor will it be weakened by essentially saying tough shit figure it out for yourselves to other oppressed groups.

So what if trans had male privileges for x amount of years? If they don't now they are oppressed and the past has no relevance. That logic could be used to say white women don't belong in most shelters because we have privileges. First we don't know what they went through, second it is a huge sweeping generalization about the thirties things. I did an XXBN radio show were the topic of trans bathrooms in Thailand was part of the topic. Something I learned researching the show is 20 percent of Thailand's high school student base considers itself to be trans. They are fighting for something as simple as a restroom. One of the callers called in and made the bozo statement that they should just go to the bathroom before they go to school. WTF? Then why are their bathrooms at all?

White racists could find excuses to say their suffered oppression and built their own water fountains, busses, etc and if people of color want those they can build them on their own. Great so we would have segregated busses and rest rooms and water fountains for colored people.

That is not a vision of fighting oppression that I share and if that is being feminist it reminds me of why I declared myself an expatriate feminist. I don't want anyone to suffer oppression, don't care if they had privileges that I didn't for 30 years. Oppression taught me tolerance and a willingness to see others and work with them to end their oppression. I have privilege based on white skin, also based on experience of being oppressed and knowing the impact of it which made me more aware of others suffering.

What do we say next? If a Christian/Catholic or Jew is victimized by oppression the shelters are opened because there are plenty of churches and synagogues built here in the US but tough shit to the Muslims let them build a mosque but until then if they are oppressed and victimized it sucks to be them? We are all human.

some thoughts to assist the world in being a more harmonious place

1. Don't hate the uniformed airline staff for poor corporate policies, for delayed flights, or if everything doesn't go exactly your way. It is an airline ticket which entitles you and everyone else go get to a destination safely in the most timely manner possible. Taking out your frustrations for not getting your way on the first person in uniform is counter productive and evil.

2. When going through security, do what you are asked to do, stop believing you know the whole process and have rights that others don't. Take off your shoes so that those of us in line don't miss our flights while you argue with the TSA officer that is following protocols set by people 10 pay grades above them with no input and no option to explain the rules outside of protocol. Once again if they are in uniform they don't make the rules, they often don't agree with the rules but compliance means job stability.

Don't stand at the X Ray every time the belt stops and tell the X Ray operator what is in your bag acting like you know what they are looking for. Almost always they aren't even looking at your bag but another one. Unless you did airport security you don't know what they are looking for and don't know how to read the X Ray. Don't fool yourself, it isn't television and isn't a doctors doctor's X Ray.

If you are selected for additional screening do what you are asked, and deal with it. It happens to everyone at some point. You don't know why you were selected even if you believe you do. Get over yourself and the belief that someone saw you and singled you out. Newsflash but the TSA officer doesn't want to hand wand you or pat you down any more than you want to be. The job sucks.

When renting cars, remember most car rental companies book by the class, not the car type. Just because you think you confirmed a grand prix because that is shown on your Orbitz travel document doesn't mean that is the car you will get. There are reasons why they can't confirm a specific car. It has to do more with whether the person before you brings it back on time and in shape to rent.

Please listen to the car rental agent when they tell you how to exit. It is an amazing number of people that know their way out then run over the spokes going out the bus exit.

If you don't buy the additional coverages and wreck the car, don't call trying to disguise your voice or intimidate your way into adding the coverage. It has been done and failed in the past.

When renting a car at night and finding yourself lost in the car rental facility parking lot, do not attempt to drive on the very wide road with blue, white or red lights outlining it and aircraft landing or departing. That is the runway, not the freeway. The chainlink fence and the steep incline should indicate to you that the freeway is not that big road labeled 17L 35R

When returning a rental car, follow the signs, slow down so that you see which lane to return it in. Never make your own lane, run down the pylons and go under the red lights assuming you can skip the line or are unsure and decide to make your own. This delays the process for you and everyone.

When instructed to proceed down a lane, put the cell phone down, do not strike other vehicles or employees. Speeding up and gunning it at an employee either as a joke or to express your unhappiness with the rental is a bad idea. If instructed to proceed down the end of a lane, don't change lanes thinking you are getting closer to the door. You become lost in the shuffle. When instructed to go down a lane and stop do so before striking the parked car in front of you. Being told to go down a lane doesn't mean follow it to the end at all costs including hitting other cars then advising the rental return person that there should be a sign saying not to strike other vehicles. There is no sign because it should be common sense. If it isn't either follow instructions or take a bus.

Drive up windows at McDonalds. It is McDonalds, everyone has an idea of what is on the menu. Try to have a basic idea of the process before you get to the speaker. If you are ordering 28 different items, go inside. No one wants to wait behind your stupid ass while you order all that food nor should they have to. The idea of a drive up is speed. Not huge purchases. Once you have ordered and it is safe to do so, move ahead so others can order. Pull far enough ahead so that others can transact their business too. Again remember it is McDonalds, it is the same process as the last 30 years. Basically the same menu.

Do not place extravagant special orders at the drive thru and expect your food to be ready at the second window. If asked to pull to the designated parking area that doesn't mean pull up 1/12th of a car length and force everyone else to go through a 12 point process to get out from behind you. Try to be considerate of others in all of these scenarios. Some of us do not want to be part of your drama or wait behind your while you go through your posturing. You aren't the only customer/passenger.

Bush chastises Russia for invading Georgia. Bush should chastise Russia for this. If he could do it honestly. Russia has illegally invaded a sovereign nation. And for the somewhat less than geographically literate, Georgia being in Asia, not Georgia with Atlanta. Perhaps we had some high ground but can someone say Iraq? WE invaded sovereign nation without reason. WE did it against the wishes of the world community. In the lies that said there were links between Saddam and Al Queda. Lies about weapons of mass destruction. It is an invasion that destroyed all the good will built up after the horrific terrorist attacks on 11 September 2001. We acted unilaterally. We have no authority to challenge any country on moral grounds as a result.

Our economy is devastated, a surplus is a huge deficit, worse thousands have died for nothing.

Now Bush and his minions are using righteous indignation about sovereign nations and illegal invasions. He is correct, Russia's actions are the act of a huge aggressor on a much weaker country because they can. Had we not squandered the right to oppose this we could have. Now it is just more US hypocrisy. And another country that suffers because of both Russia and the US. Had Bush not invaded Iraq what would likely be different? Bush, you need to stay in the white house. You've done enough damage, now adding this kind of hypocritical posturing when the whole world sees this except much of the US population. How much more damage can Bush do and how much more blowback can there be from the invasion in Iraq?

What a bunch of shit both Russia and the USA's actions. So what happens if China decides to invade Taiwan? We have zero credibility while Bush is president to do or say anything.

Ok I'm a geek, I collect die cast airliners

I'm a long time former flight attendant. One of the things to amuse myself when having long layovers in world airports was to collect die cast model airliners. I only collect airliners and have a hugely limited budget for this. Right now there are 73 of the worlds airlines in my collection. If you can add as a gift or very low cost addition to my collection I would love you forever. The picture function is INOP so I can't give a pic as to what I'm referring to. But google die cast model airliners.

I have all the usual suspects, Delta, Northwest, etc, looking for harder to find ones, Virgin America, Spirit, Allegiant US Carriers, International El Al Israel, Taca Peru, Ethiad, Virgin Blue, Chile Sky, Lan Chile, Quantas as the dog chewed up my last Quantas, Berlin Air, Libyan Arab, Emirates, Kuwait Air,

But if it is a gift I am forever appreciative of anything you find in your travels. I only collect airliners, no military, no turbo props.

Invest 92-L: A broad area of low pressure associated with a tropical wave is located over the central Atlantic Ocean early this morning, about 750 miles east of the Lesser Antilles. Satellite imagery indicates that the shower and thunderstorm activity has gradually increased over the last 12 hours or so and environmental conditions are favorable for a tropical depression to form within the next 24 to 36 hours. The latest track model guidance indicates that Invest 92-L should remain on a west-northwest to northwest course over the next two to three days and then possibly bend back to the west in four to five days. This model forecast track takes 92-L north of the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, however, this forecast track threatens the Bahamas this weekend. With that said, I think the northern Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands should pay careful attention to the progress of this system as it is going to be very close for you folks.

The biggest impediment for 92-L will be dry air ahead of this system as can be seen in water vapor satellite imagery. So far this system has done pretty good at fighting off the dry air. For now, I think we are looking at slow development of this system over the next few days and I do think it will become a tropical depression over the next 24 to 36 hours and then a tropical storm later this week. As for a forecast track, 92-L should remain on its current west-northwest track for the next couple of days or so and this should allow this system to track just north of the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico. With that said, any center reformations or changes in heading may allow this system to track over the northern Leeward Islands late this week. After that, 92-L should turn more to the west allowing the storm to end up close to the southeastern Bahamas by Saturday night and Sunday.

After Sunday, the global model consensus indicates 92-L may continue on a westward course to a point over south Florida or in the Florida Straits around next Tuesday and then potentially in the eastern Gulf of Mexico (Euro and Canadian models) around next Thursday.

Folks in the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico should pay careful attention to the progress of 92-L. In addition, folks in the Bahamas and folks in south Florida and those along the eastern Gulf of Mexico coast should also pay close attention to the progress of Invest 92-L.

Invest 93-L: A large and complex area of disturbed weather is located over the eastern Atlantic extending from near the Cape Verde Islands west-southwestward for several hundred miles. Satellite imagery early this morning indicates that this system is showing some signs of organization and this system may become a tropical depression later this week. Right now, I think 93-L is basically just a big mess and it really needs to consolidate more before it can start developing into a tropical cyclone. Therefore, I think this system has a moderate chance of developing into a tropical depression by Thursday or Friday. As for a track, the track model guidance is forecasting a west-northwest path for the next 5 days or so. Based on the overall synoptic situation, I think this system's actual track may be on the southern end of that track guidance spread, somewhere between the GFS model and HWRF model. So by Sunday morning, 93-L may be located about 350 miles east of the northernmost Leeward Islands.

As you can tell, both systems continue to organize and they both may be tropical depressions by the end of the week. At this point, Invest 92-L is the bigger threat of the two, as it is the front-runner and may try to track much further west than Invest 93-L. All interests in the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico should pay careful attention to the progress of 92-L. In addition, folks in the Bahamas, south Florida and those of you along the eastern Gulf of Mexico coast should also pay close attention to the progress of Invest 92-L. As of this writing, I think 92-L will pass just north of or go over the northern Leeward Islands on Thursday night or Friday morning. The threat from 92-L to the southeastern Bahamas may come around Saturday night or Sunday with a potential threat to south Florida around next Tuesday. In addition, there is a possible threat to the eastern Gulf of Mexico around next Thursday.

I will be monitoring everything related to this and I will keep you all updated.

Motion filed in Kyle Payne case to postpone sentencing

Kyle D. Payne, a 22-year-old Iowa blogger and self-proclaimed male feminist, would like more time to undergo counseling and gather letters of support before appearing in court, according to a motion filed by his attorney in Buena Vista County this morning.

Payne, who pleaded guilty to secretly photographing and filming a college student’s breasts, was scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 11. His attorney, F. Montgomery Brown, cites conflicts within his own schedule as well as Payne’s need for more time to prepare as reasons the court should grant the motion to continue.

Defendant is in the process of continued counseling, the results of which will be presented at sentencing in this matter and may bear upon the Court’s determination of the appropriate sentences in the above-entitled matter.

Counsel for Defendant is in the continued process of acquiring letters of support to support to the Court (sic) at sentencing and reasonably believes that additional time is need (sic) to acquire additional letters.

According to the motion, Payne is currently employed and continuing post-graduate studies. Because of this, Brown argues, Payne is “neither a risk to flee or danger to the community.” Brown closes by requesting the sentencing date be moved to October. The prosecution is expected to resist an extended continuance of the hearing.

Payne presented his guilty plea to the charges of felony attempted burglary in the second degree and two counts of invasion of privacy, a serious misdemeanor, on June 30. He faces a maximum of five years in prison and a fine up to $7,500. As a condition of the plea deal, the state has agreed that no other charges will be filed as a result of this incident.

The incident that led to Payne’s arrest and subsequent plea agreement happened while Payne was employed as a dormitory resident adviser at Buena Vista University. Police reports indicate that while attending to an intoxicated and unconscious female student, Payne reportedly assaulted and photographed her. The guilty plea entered by Payne did not include assault charges. Tips received by police and campus security following the incident led to a 10-month investigation that resulted in the February arrest.

The case has sparked the ire of many feminist bloggers throughout the nation, primarily due to the fact that Payne has claimed to use activism and education to promote “a more just and life-affirming culture of sexuality” for women, especially those women who have been victims of sexual violence.

Tropical Weather Discussion
Issued: Monday, August 11, 2008 555 am EDT
Two tropical disturbances are being watched closely over the central and eastern Atlantic for the potential of tropical cyclone development this week.
The first tropical disturbance, designated Invest 92-L by the National Huricane Center, is a broad area of low pressure that is associated with a tropical wave. This tropical wave and associated low pressure system is located about 900 miles east of the Windward Islands. Satellite imagery early this morning indicated that shower and thunderstorm activity is currently disorganized, however, Environmental conditions are forecast to be favorable for development of Invest 92-L and this system has the potential to become a tropical depression over the next 2 to 3 days. The track model guidance forecasts that 92-L will track to the west and west-northwest over the next several days under favorable environmental conditions. Based on the track models and global models, folks in the Leeward Islands, US and British Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico should pay careful attention to the progress of Invest 92-L as it is forecast to affect these areas from Wednesday night through Thursday night. I will discuss what may occur beyond Thursday night in my discussion of the global models later in this discussion.
The second tropical disturbance, designated Invest 93-L by the National Hurricane Center, is a large area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms located over the eastern Atlantic, a couple hundred miles southwest of the Cape Verde Islands. Environmental conditions are favorable for development of this disturbance and it could become a tropical depression at some point this week. This second disturbance will be discussed more in the global model part of the discussion in the next paragraph.
The global models unanimously develop both disturbances into tropical cyclones this week and I am in agreement with their forecast. I do, however, think the development of both disturbances will be slow to occur and don't expect to see any rapid development over the next couple of days. The global models do have some pretty ominous forecast tracks, so let's take a look at the models:
GFS Model: The GFS model forecasts that Invest 92-L will track across the northern Leeward Islands and just north of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico from Wednesday night through Thursday night. After that, the GFS model forecasts Invest 92-L will track through the central and southeastern Bahamas on Friday and Saturday before tracking through the Florida Keys on Sunday. As for disturbance number 2: The GFS model forecasts a further north track and forecasts it to track north of the Leeward Islands late this weekend into early next week before threatening the US East Coast late next week.
Canadian Model: The Canadian model forecasts that Invest 92-L will track across the northern Leeward Islands and just north of the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Wednesday night and Thursday. After that, the Canadian model forecasts 92-L will track near the north coast of the Dominican Republic and Haiti on Saturday and then near the north coast of Cuba on Sunday night and Monday. By next Tuesday, the Canadian model forecasts 92-L will turn more northward and track across south Florida next Tuesday and then northward along the east coast of Florida by next Wednesday. As for disturbance numer 2: The Canadian model forecasts that this other disturbance will track much further north and forecasts that it will not be a threat to any land masses of the US or Caribbean for the next 10 days.
European Model: The European model forecasts that Invest 92-L will pass near the northern Leeward Islands and near the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Thursday. After Thursday, the European model forecasts 92-L will move near the north coast of the Dominican Republic and Haiti on Friday and Friday night and then over central and eastern Cuba on Sunday. By next week, the European model forecasts that 92-L will track into the Gulf of Mexico and be located in the northwestern Gulf of Mexico by next Wednesday. As for disturbance number 2: The European model forecasts that it will affect the Leeward Islands next Monday and then track near the south coast of the Dominican Republic and Haiti by next Tuesday and Tuesday night before being located near the southeastern Bahamas next Wednesday.
As you can tell, both systems are being forecast to develop by all of the major global models and all of the models are pointing at a threat to the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico, as well as the US Southeast Coast and the Bahamas. At this point, Invest 92-L is the bigger threat of the two, as it is the front-runner. All interests in the Leeward Islands, Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico should pay careful attention to the progress of 92-L. In addition, folks in the Bahamas and the US Southeast Coast should also pay close attention to the progress of Invest 92-L. As of this writing, I think 92-L will affect the northern Leeward Islands, the Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico on Wednesday night and Thursday. The threat to the southeastern Bahamas from 92-L may come this weekend and a threat to the US Southeast Coast sometime late this weekend into early next week.
I will be monitoring everything related to this and I will keep you all updated.

A large area of dry and sinking air, along with African dust, is helping to inhibit tropical development from the eastern Caribbean to the east of the Lesser Antilles. In addition, strong westerly winds aloft are occurring across much the Caribbean creating an unfavorable environment for tropical development. Two tropical waves across the Caribbean, one along 77 west and the other along 68 west, are feeling the wrath of these hostile conditions and they show no signs of life. A third and more robust tropical wave is causing plenty of showers and thunderstorms across Costa Rica and Panama, but it will head into the Pacific.

Farther east, the tropics have become more active. A large tropical wave located along 47 west and south of 17 north is tracking west at 15 knots. Satellite loop shows a low-level center of circulation near 11 north, and the wave is currently causing a broad area of showers and thunderstorms across the central Atlantic. This feature has the looks of a developing tropical cyclone and could become a depression or tropical storm over the next couple of days as it heads toward the Lesser Antilles. It will be fighting through dry air currently in its path, so we do not expect any rapid intensification. The latest Canadian model ramps this feature up as it tracks toward the Leeward Islands while the GFS has a weaker and more steady approach.

Another tropical wave farther east along 35 west and south of 16 north is weak, but it continues to cause showers and thunderstorms over the central Atlantic. A second wave along 22 west and south of 16 north is causing showers and thunderstorms over the eastern Atlantic. A satellite loop of perceptible water shows both features have some type of cyclonic circulation as they track to the west at about 15 knots. It is these features that the GFS has been incorporating into a tropical cyclone that intensifies and tracks toward the East Coast of the United States the middle to latter part of next week.

I’ve got two words for you for this week’s Cult of Gracie show: Nina Hartley.

If you don’t know her from the 600+ videos and films she’s made, two decades of dance tours, and thousands of personal appearances (including Oprah), then you must have been living under a rock to have missed the woman who is arguably the most enduringly popular star in the history of the adult entertainment industry.

A dedicated student of human sexuality for over thirty years, Nina Hartley is more than an entertainer. She’s a sex educator, whose book, Nina Hartley’s Guide to Total Sex, was called “the best book written about sex, ever” by Margaret Cho (and several other reviewers). Hartley also co-produces Nina Hartley’s Guides, her own line of instructional videos for men and women. As Hartley says to women, “Sex isn’t something men do to you. It isn’t something men get out of you. Sex is something you dive into with gusto and like it every bit as much as he does.”

Hartley wins my admiration and affection for being such a valiant public advocate for sexual self-awareness, sanity and literacy. A leader in sex positivity, during the “porn wars” of the 80’s, Hartley became a founding member of the Feminist Anti-Censorship Task Force, and today, among other things, she is a member of the Board of Directors for the Woodhull Freedom Foundation, an organization that works to advance sexual freedom as a fundamental human right by protecting and advancing freedom of speech and sexual expression.

Here’s one of my favorite quotes from Nina Hartley, activist for sexual pleasure:

I definitely think that sex is natural and healthy, and that people have the absolute right to pursue their sexual preferences with other consenting adults without government or church intervention. I can do what I do to share my enjoyment of sex with all my viewers out there. If I can help any person or persons have a great sex session, then I’ve done a good job! I believe that society changes and that we can take what is good from the world’s religions and leave behind what isn’t so good, and forge a new day. I’m one of the forgers, I like to think!

If you live in North Carolina, it is time to move into this century. Make a fucking right turn on red. It is ok to make one even if you see an oncoming car miles away. If you have time to make the turn safely, make the turn. While it might seem like you are being polite by waiting for the car that is four miles away to pass first before you make the turn. Waiting and waving to him to ensure that he never felt you were being impolite or aggressive is well, impolite and passive aggressive to those of us behind you.

Also there is the thing called directional lights on your car. Remember you are not the only car on the road. Driving 42 miles per hour regardless of the speed zone then making an abrupt right or left without warning endangers everyone. If I have to stop short, even when following at a safe distance because YOU abruptly turn right then stop to ponder your decision, the guy behind me may not be paying attention. I have had seven concussions, most of which are from being rear ended. I can not afford your bullshit driving and can't depend on the fact that the person behind me is following me at a safe distance when you stop in the midst of a right turn, of which you have not used your signal light, it puts me in danger. Perhaps you believe you are a safe driver going nice and slow and don't need to use the directional lights on your car. You do. Driving well below the speed limit isn't safe or polite. Not to mention I keep a safe following distance but someone behind me assumes I am going to slow and tail gates me, you make your abrupt right turn, I get rear ended and you drive off oblivious.

Right turn on red (RTOR) is a principle of law permitting vehicles at a traffic light showing a red signal to turn right (almost always after a complete stop) when the way is clear. RTOR has been practiced in the western United States for more than 50 years, with the eastern states adopting the law in the 1970s.

All 50 states as well as the District of Columbia, Guam, and Puerto Rico have allowed right turns on red since January 1, 1980, unless a sign otherwise prohibits this, such as "No Turn On Red" (less commonly "No Right On Red"), a No Right Turn symbol with the words On Red or a red arrow or red light symbol is present. Some vehicles, like Hazmat vehicles and school buses in New York and Illinois are not legally allowed to turn on red under any circumstance and must wait for a green light or arrow. In the 1970s, some states instituted the practice to save fuel (see 1973 oil crisis and 1979 energy crisis). From 1982–1992, approximately 84 fatal crashes per year occurred in the U.S. where a vehicle was turning right at intersections where RTOR was permitted.^{[citation needed]} As of 1992, right turn on red is governed federally by 42 U.S.C. § 6322(c) ("Each proposed State energy conservation plan to be eligible for Federal assistance under this part shall include: . . . (5) a traffic law or regulation which, to the maximum extent practicable consistent with safety, permits the operator of a motor vehicle to turn such vehicle right at a red stop light after stopping, and to turn such vehicle left from a one-way street onto a one-way street at a red light after stopping."). Evelina and WHISPER, Women Hurt and Systems of Prostitution Engaging in Resistance settled out of court with a gag order as a result of what Evelina perpetrated, which as you read below was sexual assault against a one time client who became an employee of WHISPER. WHISPER folded. Kelly Holsopple’s allegations were supported by other clients of WHISPER. Google Evelina Giobbe/Kelly Holsopple for more information. See below the legal notice from Minneapolis Newspaper “City Pages” Yet Evelina’s “work” is prominently featured on Farley and many other radical feminist websites. Was their outcry against Evelina in the radical feminist community? Only from a few, virtually none of which are in radical feminism anymore, either driven out as heretics or no longer able to stomach that movement’s ethical breaches. Evelina committed acts very similar to those of Kyle Payne. Yet that fact was swept under the carpet by Farley and others. Why? I don’t know. Apparently Evelina’s “work” is more valuable than human beings and thus her actions of sexual harassment/sexual assault are forgivable. Or if not forgiven, at least conveniently forgotten.

Evelina is different from Kyle Payne how? Did radical feminism care a whole lot about Kelly Holsopple? Or was her victimization and that of others buried to save the movement from having one of it’s leaders exposed?

The contention that the sex worker rights movement was somehow corrupt in being the one to bring fourth the information about Kyle Payne. That somehow Renegade Evolution was somehow morally bankrupt for focusing attention on Kyle because she allegedly collaborates with rapists. As by radical feminist definition all porn is prostitution and all prostitution is bought and sold rape.

When radical feminists use terms such as pro prostitution, pro porn, pro pimp lobby, it is important to consider the context. Which occurred to me may not be fully understood other than by those of us that were part of the rad fem/anti movement until we couldn’t deal with the hypocrisy. Which the blowback from breaking with that movement is to put it mildy intense. There is a movement that has a very harsh penalty for heresy. Heresy often being daring to question the ethics of the movement upper hierarchy. In radical feminism anti activism, it is often fine to have huge ethical breaches as long as one doesn’t transgress policy or embarrass the leadership. Back to Evelina. Her “:work” remains idolized by radical feminism. Forget what she did to Kelly Holsopple and others. Forget or be ejected from the movement for questioning why Evelina isn’t being called on her actions and why she is considered a role model.

Back to the bought and sold rape thing and labels like pro porn. When radical feminists call someone pro porn they aren’t saying it as a statement that the person is a porn supporter. They are using these terms to say the person is pro rape, pro rapist, pro trafficking, pro sexual assault. Which none of are. It is easy to say screw the rad fems. Who cares what they think. Maybe that has validity, but it is also important to consider the message they are sending that is bought by others. Throwing hate speech like calling us pro rape, pro sexual assault, while they chastise Renegade Evolution for bringing Kyle Payne’s guilty plea for sexually assaulting a woman to the front page. The same woman who calls me pro porn aka pro rapist and states that I am part of a group trying to bully Maggie Hays into silence, then advocates that Maggie seek legal redress to stop me from speaking my mind. Via threat of an attorney.

Is there contradiction, hypocrisy and hatred coming from the rad fem anti movement? Well, that is up to the individual to determine however……………

So, some rad fem anti types, save the lone voice in the wildnerness standing up to massive exploitation thing for the choir. Save the hate speech labels and name calling and the pretentious and faux self righteousness and take a look at your own movement and what they do, what they forgive and forget.

Kelly Holsopple is a friend. I haven’t forgotten. For the record, In 1998 when found about what happened to Kelly, and went to the courthouse and got all the legal paperwork on the case which made it clear that Kelly experienced what she stated she did, not that I ever doubted her, I didn’t, but I wanted my ducks in a row before I made my case. Evelina contacted me and tried very hard to use intimidation and threats to tell me to shut my fucking mouth. Others like Donna Hughes quickly jumped in to the fray to advise that maybe it was best for the movement if this wasn’t discussed. I’ll give Farley credit on that one. She was silent about my statements. Although that was because she didn’t want to give me credibility by admitting I existed after she had spent so much time and effort trying to convince people that I was actually Carol Leigh.

Jill Brenneman is a national speaker, activist and outreach educator. She draws from her own diverse experiences in the sex industry as the basis for her speeches. Having a unique series of experiences that at different times in her life made her an unwilling participant as a submissive escort for an escort service catering to BDSM clients, yet at a later time in her life she was a sex worker by choice, both escort and exotic dancer. Jill, can speak from first person perspective about the differences between her non consensual participation in the sex industry as a submissive and her experience later as an adult sex worker making a consenting and open choice to do sex work. The pre-flight safety demonstration (also known as a pre-flight briefing, in-flight safety demonstration, safety instructions, or simply the safety video) is a detailed explanation given before take off to Brenneman Airplane passengers.

Yeah it sucks that John Edwards had an affair. I really like Elizabeth Edwards and actually having met John Edwards in 2003 like him and still do. However, he came clean with his family when it happened and that is who he owes an explanation to. His actions didn't effect anyone outside his family or the woman he had a relationship with. Should he have done it? No. He broke his oath to his wife. But that is between him, her and his family.

Meanwhile, Bush, our fearless leader, lies about weapons of mass destruction, invades a country without cause getting thousands upon thousands killed and that doesn't draw the moral consternation. Where the fuck are priorities?????

Launching a war, invading a country on false pretenses, a war that has killed thousands, has harmed the country in so many ways, and those lies are ok? And don't make headlines. John Edwards has an affair and admits to it and that is the headline? WTF?

No one died from Edwards affair. No one died from Clinton's affair. Even as hypocritical as Senator Craig from Idaho was with his gay tryst in the mens room at MSP after being so anti gay, still this doesn't equal lying and creating a war in which so much harm has been done.

Brett Favre, wow, bad choice. While it is certainly his right to do so, I so disagree with Brett Favre's decision to unretire and join the New York Jets. TSA/Department of Homeland Security is the most corrupt organization that I have ever seen. At levels that are astonishing. More on this some other day. I resigned a supervisory position with TSA on 9/11/2006 feeling the government is so disgustingly corrupt that leaving the country and living abroad has increasingly become a consideration.

Departure from SWOP East

This is my only statement. While anyone is free to post on the topic as part of the free speech that I cherish, I will not respond to any post or answer any questions on this topic.

Effective August 7, 2008 I have resigned all positions and membership in Sex Workers Outreach Project SWOP East. This is a permanent decision that will not be reconsidered. I resigned from SWOP East to pursue sex worker rights activism as an independent contractor/activist.

My decision to resign from SWOP East entirely due to my personal belief that members at whatever level they choose to be in within an organization have to be able to live up to the commitments and needs of that membership/position. For personal reasons entirely unrelated to SWOP East or sex worker rights activism, I can not give that commitment and do not see that changing within a realistic time frame. In the best interest of SWOP East and in consistency with my own personal ethics on being able to accurately and authentically represent the time, energy and dedication levels needed I have determined that the best course for all parties is a complete break with SWOP East. I still love, cherish and value each of the members of SWOP East, and will continue to work with them on activism and remain friends, and collaborators in activist projects. My departure is comes with no ill will, and was not caused by anyone's actions, words or any other reason.

To use a band analogy, I simply did not have the time or energy to record a new album or go on the subsequent tour. Thus have amicably parted ways with SWOP East.

It is my sincerest hope and that that SWOP East flourishes to new heights! I remain dedicated to sex worker rights activism and look forward to future collaboration.

Please respect that this is the only statement I have about this situation both publicly and privately. This was a difficult decision to make emotionally and a process that I would rather not revisit. I ask for your understanding and ask that in that understanding you support SWOP East in the future as you have done for me while I was Executive Director.

Sex Worker Human Rights Statement

Sex Worker Rights are Human Rights was a leading slogan in a July 2006 protest on the Las Vegas Strip by sex workers and allies. The concept brought mixed reaction from the crowd. Some supportive, some mixed, some filled with vitriol. Without a doubt this will be a controversial piece on the SWOP EAST website. SWOP EAST advocates the concept of sex worker rights being a human rights issue.

Criminalization of sex work and sex workers that are legal adults and consenting solves nothing. Criminalization should be focused on actual criminals, those who commit crimes against sex workers, those who force sex work in non consenting situations, those who traffic in human beings for the purpose of forced labor both related and unrelated to sex work and certainly those who prey on children. Children are not tourist attractions either in the United States or any other country. Sex with children is pedophilia. Pedophiles belong in prison. However, one must also consider the factors that cause children to be in the sex industry. Unless the causes are addressed and alternatives created, there will be many children that end up in the sex industry. Runaway and homeless teens require some source of income. Simply stating the problem exists and trying to legislate it as a criminal offense without bringing resources to the homeless and runaway youth is pointless. Children in the United States and other countries are often forced into the sex industry by families desperately poor and seeing no other choice. This is a social issue that has to be addressed at the source.

Sex Worker Human Rights

Ending criminalization of sex work involving consenting adults creates opportunity for positive social change. With an end to criminalization, sex workers are no longer marginalized for abuse and victimization by customers, the legal system and law enforcement. Instead, the legal system would serve to protect sex workers, to represent them in the event they are victimized by a crime. Rather than having to fear the police and be easy targets for renegade cops abusing their positions, sex workers would be able to access assistance from the police just as any other citizen victimized by a crime. SWOP EAST’s website has many testimonials from individuals victimized in the sex industry that had no recourse due to current social views regarding sex work, criminality and the stigma and marginalization that comes with them.

Current policies of criminalization also really serve no value for those either in the sex industry in a non-consenting situation, trafficking victims or those underage. Those who; coerce, traffic or exploit both adults and youth are aware that criminalization keeps the victims from viewing law enforcement and the legal system as allies to assist them in getting out of the sex industry. The victim becomes imprisoned by a system that is allegedly setup to protect them. It is both unrealistic and simplistic not to recognize that people who prey on those who are coerced into the sex industry will use criminalization - the knowledge that the victim fears being punished by the law as a criminal - as reinforcement in a dynamic of fear that makes it difficult for such a victim to leave. Predators use criminalization and the legal system to coerce and deny access to people under their influence who want to leave the sex industry.

The right to form and join professional associations and unions allows for empowerment of sex workers to have greater authority and rights within the sex industry through the strength of a group and networking.

Sex Work, Taxation, and Representation.

Currently the Internal Revenue Service requires individuals to report income earned from illegal sources. Criminalization denies the sex worker access to legal rights and representation related to taxation as admission of how the income is earned may not be covered under client privilege. This causes denial of the ability to receive accurate and complete legal rights and representation. Ending criminalization would allow the sex worker to fulfill requirements of paying taxes, consult with tax specialists without fear of the session being used against them in court.

Coercion, violence, sexual abuse, child labor, rape and racism.

Sex workers should be entitled to protection from coercion, violence, sexual abuse, child labor, rape and racism just as any employee in any citizen working in any occupation in the United States of America is. Coercion is enforced by criminalization. Knowing that turning in the coercing party may lead to the sex worker being arrested is a substantial barrier from leaving a coercive situation. Those that coerce are aware of this dynamic realizing the victim has little recourse to escape the coercion through the legal system without significant risk. The victim is likely to think of themselves as a criminal because of current laws and social attitudes and to see the legal system and law enforcement not as those that can bring justice but as those who will likely arrest, prosecute and further victimize the person they should be protecting.

Sexual abuse and rape in sex work is virtually unaddressed as an issue. Social attitudes most often assume sex workers can not be sexually abused, assaulted or raped by virtue of being a sex worker. Sex workers are at very significant risk of sexual abuse and rape. Exchange of money for agreed upon services does not negate the fact that anything beyond what the sex worker consents to is rape. Payment of money or anything else of value is not a blank check to force any sexual act upon a sex worker. Yet, current legalities and social attitudes make bringing a rapist of a sex worker to justice virtually impossible. Many rape crisis centers either will not accept clients that are sex workers or are improperly trained to assist them. Medical care providers are also often improperly trained or not trained at all to deal with rape and sexual assault of sex workers. This along with criminalization leaves the sex worker often unable or unwilling to access medical services after an assault. Sex workers are easy targets for violence. Violent offenders realize the marginalization and criminalization aspects of sex work leave the sex worker with little legal recourse in the event of being victimized by violence. Violence sometimes extends all the way to the murder of the sex worker with little legal interest as in the case of the Green River Killer, Gary Ridgeway who killed dozens of prostitutes before finally being caught. Had the victims been seen as “regular women” rather than prostitutes there would likely have been a much higher emphasis on the capture and prosecution of the killer.

One of the most controversial topics is child labor related to the sex industry. The vast majority of youth in the sex industry in the US are runaway/throwaway youth. There is a significant issue that often goes unaddressed. Critics will state that youth should not be in the sex industry. They are correct. However, this requires more than press releases, position statements and pusillanimous policies of government. The youth that are in the sex industry often have no other way to earn money. They are in a situation of survival sex which is trading sex for survival needs. It is nothing short of a waste of time to state this problem exists without concrete solutions. Suggestions advising the youth to just go home are unrealistic. Often times the youth left for a reason, the street was safer than home or where thrown out. Going home may not be an option. Suggestions advising them to go to the local McDonald’s or like employer and get a “normal job” are absurd. Where do they get the work permits? What do they list as an address on the job application? What telephone number do they give for the job application? What do they do while they are waiting for this “normal job” to consider and process their application? Unless resources are created which provide food, clothing, shelter and education this will always be a problem.

In many countries outside the US, child labor is a different issue. Families so poor they have no choice but to either have the children work in the sex industry or even sell children into the sex trade are common scenarios. The basic issue is poverty and often sexism as the male child is considered more valuable, the female child more easily dispensable into the sex industry. Children are not a tourist attraction and it is the responsibility of governments to address this issue including the governments of the “first world” countries to punish their citizens that engage in child sex tours. It is simplistic to blame the parents of these children. Poverty has to be addressed as a global issue. Also, often unaddressed is the myth that a job in a sweatshop making minimal money for epic work hours is a better option for children or anyone for that matter. Both amount to little more than slave labor.

Compounding the problem is current the US Governments ban on funding unless organizations helping child sex labor victims unless they take a specific anti prostitution pledge. This is absurd. The problem isn’t going to be legislated away with a quick stroke of the pen, a nice photo op, with mission accomplished written as the answer to this problem. Access to needed resources including medical attention, prophylactics, and education on sexually transmitted diseases are being denied by an alleged effort to fight human trafficking by cutting off funding to agencies that “collaborate with traffickers”. Until the issues of poverty and other factors are addressed in realistic form, this is going to be a problem. Denial of service for political gain through the December 19, 2003: Trafficking Victims Protection Reauthorization Act of 2003 is nothing but a disingenuous play to convince the world that a social problem is being addressed. What is really happening is an unrealistic US Government has aligned with some feminists and the religious right to posture about fighting trafficking while their actions endanger and often end the lives of victims around the world. Victims supposedly helped by this legislation.

Legal support or sex workers who want to sue those who exploit their labor.

The focus on fighting to end the sex industry and continuing to maintain the status quo of criminalization places too much emphasis on the punishment of men that are either pimps or clients. Forgotten is both the reality that women and transgendered bear the brunt of arrests. Also lost in the fight to end the sex industry is the reality that criminalization takes away civil remedies for sex workers that are exploited for their labor. The current social and legal environment empowers those who exploit the labor of sex workers as criminalization leaves no option for legal recourse. Knowing the legal and social implications of sex workers attempting a lawsuit to gain compensation for exploitation of their labor, those who exploit have little to fear in using current circumstances to their advantage. This leaves the sex worker vulnerable to inadequate payment for doing their job, exploited by having to pay a series of fees to work such as in the case of many strip clubs, overtime pay laws become irrelevant as many sex workers are not even paid an hourly wage but instead tips and only after paying fees to club management, bartenders, security, disc jockeys and other staff. In the event the sex worker suffers exploitation or harm there is little ability to sue for financial, physical or emotional damages. In the event of workplace injury there is often no workers compensation, disability pay or other benefits.

Ending criminalization would allow for labor rights allowing sex workers to file suit against those who exploit their labor, to seek compensation for various forms of damages, fair compensation for their work, legal benefits in the event of injury resulting from accident or negligence on the part of the employer and a much stronger legal remedy having the effect of keeping potentially predatory employers accountable for their actions.

Clean and safe places to work

Ending criminalization would bring sex work out from underground. Without fear of arrest, incarceration, criminal record and other legal issues, sex workers would have the same legal protections as an employee of any other industry. Rather than having to fear law enforcement, it would become the police’s responsibility to enforce the same laws and same rights afforded employees of other industries. Ending criminalization, stigmatization, marginalization and other forms of isolation and discrimination would provide opportunities for clean, safe work environments, access to medical services without fear of being victimized by the judgment of the medical provider or denial of services due to their occupation. Ending criminalization would allow for the same laws which protect workers in other industries from workplace hazards to be enforced providing clean and safe work environments for sex workers.

The right to choose whether to work on our own or co-operatively with other sex workers.

Current legal environments in various countries, states, provinces and municipalities either force sex workers to work together as in the case of legalized brothels in some counties in Nevada, or to not be able to work together in other areas fearing it would bring too much awareness and catch the attention of law enforcement. Sex workers need to have the right to choose their work environment just as any other individual does. That choice may be to work for an employer, to work as an independent or to create their own business of the size they choose.

The absolute right to say no.

One of the greatest flaws of criminalization is the absolute lack of protection from clients or employers refusing to respect the sex workers boundaries. There is virtually no recourse for a sex worker forced into sexual acts against their will either by a client that exceeds the agreed upon terms or an employer that forces the sex worker to go beyond personal boundaries as part of their job. The exchange of money does not eliminate the sex workers right to say no, it does not give a client the right to exceed the sex workers boundaries and does not give the employer the right to force a sex worker to engage in sexual acts against their will, ones they consider dangerous or simply ones they do not feel comfortable with. Sex workers have the right to their own bodies and if and when that is violated they need the right to recourse. Current legal and social stances often deny the sex worker the right to control what happens to their bodies.

The contention that the sex worker rights movement was somehow corrupt in being the one to bring fourth the information about Kyle Payne. That somehow Renegade Evolution was somehow morally bankrupt for focusing attention on Kyle because she allegedly collaborates with rapists. As by radical feminist definition all porn is prostitution and all prostitution is bought and sold rape.

When radical feminists use terms such as pro prostitution, pro porn, pro pimp lobby, it is important to consider the context. Which occurred to me may not be fully understood other than by those of us that were part of the rad fem/anti movement until we couldn’t deal with the hypocrisy. Which the blowback from breaking with that movement is to put it mildy intense. There is a movement that has a very harsh penalty for heresy. Heresy often being daring to question the ethics of the movement upper hierarchy. In radical feminism anti activism, it is often fine to have huge ethical breaches as long as one doesn’t transgress policy or embarrass the leadership. Back to Evelina. Her “:work” remains idolized by radical feminism. Forget what she did to Kelly Holsopple and others. Forget or be ejected from the movement for questioning why Evelina isn’t being called on her actions and why she is considered a role model.

Back to the bought and sold rape thing and labels like pro porn. When radical feminists call someone pro porn they aren’t saying it as a statement that the person is a porn supporter. They are using these terms to say the person is pro rape, pro rapist, pro trafficking, pro sexual assault. Which none of are. It is easy to say screw the rad fems. Who cares what they think. Maybe that has validity, but it is also important to consider the message they are sending that is bought by others. Throwing hate speech like calling us pro rape, pro sexual assault, while they chastise Renegade Evolution for bringing Kyle Payne’s guilty plea for sexually assaulting a woman to the front page. The same woman who calls me pro porn aka pro rapist and states that I am part of a group trying to bully Maggie Hays into silence, then advocates that Maggie seek legal redress to stop me from speaking my mind. Via threat of an attorney.

Is there contradiction, hypocrisy and hatred coming from the rad fem anti movement? Well, that is up to the individual to determine however……………

So, some rad fem anti types, save the lone voice in the wildnerness standing up to massive exploitation thing for the choir. Save the hate speech labels and name calling and the pretentious and faux self righteousness and take a look at your own movement and what they do, what they forgive and forget.

Kelly Holsopple is a friend. I haven’t forgotten. For the record, In 1998 when found about what happened to Kelly, and went to the courthouse and got all the legal paperwork on the case which made it clear that Kelly experienced what she stated she did, not that I ever doubted her, I didn’t, but I wanted my ducks in a row before I made my case. Evelina contacted me and tried very hard to use intimidation and threats to tell me to shut my fucking mouth. Others like Donna Hughes quickly jumped in to the fray to advise that maybe it was best for the movement if this wasn’t discussed. I’ll give Farley credit on that one. She was silent about my statements. Although that was because she didn’t want to give me credibility by admitting I existed after she had spent so much time and effort trying to convince people that I was actually Carol Leigh.

Feminist Jihad against porniarchy

This woman Maggie Hays has written one of the funniest things I have ever read. feminist jihad Talk about white liberal guilt and cultural appropriation of disenfranchised populations. porniarchy, the invasion and conquest explained It reads as though she is Bosnian Muslim in 1994 Sarajevo or in the West Bank or Gaza only she has has super imposed "porniarchy" over other actually oppressed and hugely victimized populations and somehow made all women victims at that level in this whole porniarchial invasion thing she has created in her psuedo sociological assessment of society. I"m sure she would and has labeled me more than one as one of the pro porn porniarchy invaders even though I haven't even seen a porn video in like 20 fucking years.

White liberal guilt meets over thought out sociology in her website. It almost reads like someone had to do a thesis and in their thesis had to create being the victim of a horrifically oppressed society.

I have to say I find this website supremely humorous in an odd way. If I didn't know that she actually believed her own shit I would think this had to be some kind of game, like the discussion boards of flight simulator pilots that discuss their issues as if they are read world rather than sim.

Kyle Payne is a microcosm of the dangerous dynamic of radical feminism. He and Maggie Hays aren’t so far apart even though they are worlds apart and I am by no means comparing her to a sexual predator. Agree or disagree with her or her politics, even her methods, but she is not kyle and nothing like him. Their radical feminist anti porn activism websites have hit some milestones this week for very different reasons.

Maggie’s “I blame the Porniarchy “is faux sociology with a huge sense of needing to be oppressed at the worst level possible in a way that can only be described by reading it. Put it this way it is about the global conquest of women by the porniarchy. It involves, pornocrats, promises to never surrender to the porniarchy infidel type conquerors.

Kyle Payne, one time pro feminist/anti porn radical feminist, still self advertising as one despite his conviction and guilt in the sexual assault of a female student he was responsible for as an RA in an Iowa college. They are very far apart in some ways. In others very similar, linked by a parasitic faction of radical feminism.

But the effects of radical feminism are there in both of them. It’s appeal is to a person victimized by some sort of abuse. It’s a movement that says welcome, join us, process your pain through talking with us about it, share with us about it. If it were in a support group/mental health setting with controls like neutral group leaders, etc, it probably could be a good thing for many. But this attach victim/survivors to recovery via fighting some mythical/monolithic enemy because justice isn’t available is toxic. It is a blood bank for psychic vampires like Farley, a holy war for the high and mighty ones to use the lower hierarchy rad fems as cannon fodder to prove themselves as worthy. The last fucking thing someone that is recovering from trauma needs is to be put into a warrior environment fighting some thing seemingly so evil that it is viewed as an archy that has enslaved 3.5 billion people, taken over a culture or cultures and is some orchestrated plan when fact is it isn’t.

Kyle didn’t belong anywhere near radical feminism. It became novaciane for him to cover whatever he was feeling from his own past abuse. He was surrounded by victim/survivors and ultimately his hunger was too much. Like the sadistic cop surrounded by vulnerable people it is a matter of time before his belly became empty and he had to feed off a victim. His actions will forever change his victim.

Kyle belongs no where near feminist activism. Especially radical feminism where so many are so vulnerable. He tries to make the case that he is making amends, but the fact that his CV/marketing sheet is still up on his blog undermines all his I’m not doing anymore activism until I’m better shit. His diatribe about being smeared by pro porn bloggers. He still sees vast enemies and himself as the victim. Who knows whether his rad fem allies will eventually forgive and forget his atrocities because they need the token male pro feminist. Not to mention rad feminism is not a movement that tends to police itself. Had the SWR movement especially Ren made a huge amount of noise it is likely the rad fems would have covered this up for the sake of party loyalty, allowed him to stay because he’s a valuable soldier in their Quixotic war.

If he truly wanted to face up to his crimes he wouldn’t close comments to his amends letter and beg for women to write to him. He is still trolling. He probably doesn’t even recognize this.

Kyle, dude, if you want to make amends and do it right, then open yourself up to people holding you accountable, take it like a fucking adult, don’t make excuses, don’t give reasons, just fucking take it, straight on without flinching to avoid the pain, look people in the eye that you have hurt and take their anger, their betrayal and whatever else they feel and give them the respect of honoring their feelings without inserting yourself into it. That would be a statement of being accountable and willing to face your crimes.

This woosey passive aggressive, please write me women, but in silence, sounds like you are trying to play the bottom that wants to still control. If you are making amends, you don’t get to control. You take your punishment straight on, do it with dignity asking nothing in return, allow those you hurt to say what they need as long as they need to until they are whole again. Go to meetings not just with your therapist and supportive parents but with other sex offenders, because Kyle you are a sex offender, a sex addict, and until you face your peers, other sex offenders who will call you on your bullshit, you wont’ be called on your bullshit fully because only other sex offenders truly will understand your thought process and motives.

Why do I get the feeling Kyle doesn’t have the cojones or desire to make amends straight?

And Kyle, stay the fuck away from young women, especially ones that have been victims of abuse. Now that you have tasted blood, it will always be there.

If you want to make amends than do it right. If not than shut the fuck up as you are worse now than you were when you committed the act because now you are just getting off on the whole drama playing passive aggressive.

Radical feminist therapy

And below in the description is the mechanism in which radical feminist anti/porn/prostitution activism is misused.

It sounds like a great idea. Encourage a client to participate in the world in a move social and political way. Connect the client with other survivors, take out the aggression built up by being abused, raped, brutalized, whatever. Perhaps it’s a good theory. But, like other attach oppressed to the political fight it is misused.

1. Someone in therapy doesn’t NOT belong on the battlefield. Not on any battlefield. To say that it is connecting them to fighting their oppression. Bullshit. It is using people in need of supportive safe environments that are empathic, constructive and ones that teach important skills such as ownership of feelings, boundaries and being able to move beyond being victimized. The term survivor is valuable but it has dangers. It is forever locking a person victimized to that horror. At some point the best therapy may lead a person to move beyond the victim/survivor time frame. To be able to put it behind them and go forward with a healthy, fulfilling life. A battlefield is not that place. No one becomes healthier in a war. Anger can be a very nourishing emotion that feeds for a long time. Anger has it’s place. But radical feminism points clients at soft targets and says go to battle. If you do you are at war, in a battle with people that don’t inherently realize the worldviews are totally different. Maggie Hays sees herself as fighting the oppression of her people under the crushing repression of porniarchy. That isn’t what’s happening. Until a year ago I had never even heard of Maggie Hays. Probably most of us haven’t. There is no porniarchy. That is a fact. Is there porn? Yes. Is some of it bad, some very bad? Yes. Is it a plot against maggie, against women, against radical feminism? No. I doubt Larry Flynt has heard of Maggie or Jill Brenneman or of Renegade Evolution. Even if he has at best I would guess we have occupied about 12 seconds of his through process. Larry Flynt is a multi millionaire who probably knows little about the radical feminist war against him. As a multi millionaire why the fuck would he even care?

Sending out people in counseling, connecting them to their oppression by fighting Renegade Evolution, Jill Brenneman, Robyn Few??? WTF? That solves nothing and leads the R/F faithful into a battle in which they don’t belong. I can only speak for myself but I am years and years into therapy, to the point where the pain and suffering in the sex industry and from a sexual assault outside the sex industry are long over. I don’t have anger, sadness, flashback, nightmares, nothing about those events anymore. I”m not a victim/survivor. I was but that time frame is over.

I did the rad fem warrior thing. I thought that the empathy that I got from my therapist at CPA was what I would find from all in radical feminism. My therapist at CPA was a trained advocate/counselor/therapist. Trained to be empathic, to help set boundaries, to live healthy. When the program folded unexpectedly, I thought I would find others who were radical feminists to be like the couneslor. They weren’t. I was suddenly a holy warrior to save women from sexual slavery and bought and sold rape and all the r/f lines. I didn’t need to be part of that shit. It delayed for a decade my emotional improvement. Kept me trapped in the victim/survivor role, the warrrior for the cause role. Fuck,,, the greatest victory was what Mary, the advocate counselor stated in the very first hour we met. My survival and health were the victory. That was the only important victory.

Radical feminism/anti porn anti prostitution feminism is often poisonous. Poisoned by autocratic, out of touch leaders like Hughes, Farley and Craft, none of whom survived shit. They are profiteers and holy warriors that stay safe in the bunker ordering the soldiers to fight and risk anything and everything. And God help the victim survivor if they don’t comply. They are cowards, they are heretics, they are apostates, they are anti victim/anti survivors, even collaborators with the evil enemy. Only the enemy doesn’t exist. At least not as viewed by those believing in the fallacy of porniarchy.

We are all fighting rape. All advocating for rights for women, for oppressed populations to be free of abuse, to have equal rights, equal opportunities. Yet the rad fem leadership types hide that fact because they want to be generals in the holy war throwing martyrs at collateral enemies, all while having their high paying jobs, high paying speaking gigs.

I could have stuck with the hypocrisy, God knows I made a lot more money for speaking gigs as a rad fem. Just shut my mouth, ignore the shit I couldn’t swallow and collect the money. But that, didn’t sit with me. The lunacy of NIkki Craft’s paranoia about me and others that blew past barriers and went into advocating death. That is fucking nuts. It is hugely distorted reality. It’s psychosis really.

Maggie Hays and her missive about porniarchy. Holy shit. If she and others really believe that faux sociology and structure making them the victims of histories worst oppressive conquest. As amusing and funny as I find Maggie’s website, it really isn’t. If it were a sociological joke it would be really funny. But people believe that shit. We wonder how someone could become a suicide bomber. What the recruiting mechanism for that is? Take someone hugely oppressed, convince them that they can be a hero and no longer being an isolated victim but instead a brave warrior who took their convictions of fighting the enemy and saving the oppressed to the point of self sacrifice and loss of life while harming or killing people peripherally or totally unrelated to the actual oppressors.

Does George Bush care about a suicide bomber that blows up anyone? Probably not. He doesn’t know the victims. They are just statistics.

Maggie’s theory is completely off. There is no war. There is conspiracy, there is no conquest. Want to fight injustice? Great do that. But framing it in some holy war context against a faux enemy that doesn’t even know it is the enemy or who the holy warriors are, using counseling clients? That is fucking abuse in itself. Maggie and many others would be far better suited if they invested their time in their own health rather than worrying about fighting a war against some enemy that doesn’t even know they exist. And for the most part doesn’t care.

Want to fight oppression of women. Then fight by ending oppression. Not by making enemies of those who are not enemies. Forget the apostasy. Forget the heresy. Just deal with the fucking real world issues like HIV prevention, educating against sexual violence. Even fighting sexual violence with shelters, with programs, with politics free counseling focused on the health of the client, not including the client in the holy war.

Maggie Hays uses radical feminism as a recruiting tool for her war. Kyle Payne used it as a way to abuse a woman. Perhaps both Maggie and Kyle were victimized in the past. Neither of them belong in the political battlefield. Nor do the people harmed by their abuses of their own ideology.

I hate to disappoint the rad fem faithful but I”ve dealth with Farley, Hughes, Craft, Raymond, and none of them give a shit about victim/survivors other than their use in the war. And take a look at the heirarchy. Are any of them, Farley, Hughes, Craft, Raymond, Chesler, Lederer, the list goes on actually taking risks? Or are they just either getting fulfillment via power, authority and money?

Connect someone just recently having been raped to political activism and fighting an oppressor. What a total bunch of shit. Do we tell a cancer patient as part of their therapy they should fight the causes of their cancer rather than focus on chemo? NO.

Radical feminist anti porn feminism is fundamentalist bullshit. It feeds on the same dynamic that has empowered Jim Jones, Osama Bin Laden, Pol Pot. Take horribly oppressed people and empower them to fight the wrong people and to risk everything in that battle while the glorious leaders bask in the benefits.

It’s total shit.

Radical feminist therapy is a set of related therapies arising from the disparity between the origin of most psychological theories and the majority of people seeking counseling being female. It focuses on societal, cultural, and political causes and solutions to issues faced in the counseling process. It openly encourages the client to participate in the world in a more social and political way.

On Being called Pro Porn or Pro Prostitution

Radical feminists usually define prostitution as bought and sold rape. They define prostitution to include virtually anything remotely connected with the sex industry. Whether escort, stripper, Hooters girl, street based sex worker, trafficking victim, fetish, BDSM, the list goes on.

All of that is defined as bought and sold rape. They freely throw around terms like pro porn, pro prostitution at anyone that does not share their worldview about the prime directive being to end the sex industry.

It truly has to be seen to be believed in terms of when a bored sociology student runs wild and views herself as victim of the greatest conquest and occupation in history. It falls someplace between amusing, what the fuck and hate speech. While I absolutely endorse her right to her free speech and would strongly defend that right and state without equivocation that my opposition to her site has no interest in silencing her as her allies have alleged. I will also say I think her site is ridiculous, academic, zero credibility inspiring hate speech.

However, she and her allies have this propensity for labeling all that disagree with them as pro porn, pro prostitution, pro pimp or the pimp, prostitution or porn lobby. While I am none of those and generally don't care what others think of me. Being called pro porn by this faction of feminism with it's outlandish viewpoints is a huge insult. Given that they call porn prostitution and prostitution bought and sold rape. Calling me pro porn is calling me an advocate for bought and sold rape. And that is total shit. And a huge insult. It is similar to calling a Muslim "pro terrorist". It's evil shit slinging. A vast majority of Muslims do not support terrorism. A vast majority of sex worker rights activists, advocates, and sex workers themselves are hugely opposed to "bought and sold rape", rape, coercion, violence, discrimination, etc,

Thus before one whines about my harsh criticism of the bizarre world against us, attach abuse survivors in counseling to soldiering in the war against the monolithic enemy, remember what you are saying by calling me pro porn from your context. Not to mention, I haven't even seen a porn video, a porn dvd, a porn site since like 1988. I hate rapists and rape and oppression and coercion with a passion. Throw your hate speech terminology at me and it's going to get thrown back.
